Constitutional and Political Settlement Initiative [CPSI]

Introduction

The National Civil Society Congress (NCSC) through the Constitutional and Political Settlement Initiative (CPSI) has continued to contribute to the reconstruction and transformation of the Kenyan state.  The Congress provided leadership to civil society throughout the period of constitution-making particularly from 2007-2010 through the following initiatives:

- The Yes-Yes Referendum Campaign (2008-2010);
- The Katiba Sasa! Campaign (2009-2010); and
- Jukwaa La Katiba (Jukwaa!) Initiative (2010 onwards).

Objectives
The CPSI had the following objectives:

- To refocus, rebuild, re-energise and reunite the civil society in Kenya on the constitution review reform agenda
- Re-engage the nation towards hastening the completion of a democratic and progressive constitution
- Mobilise national interest and focus on the need to put in place a popular process free of government control to facilitate the completion of constitution review
- Strengthen a democratic culture of dialogue and learning in Kenya and greater civil society cohesion
